Die USA sind kein Rechtsstaat

In den USA wurde bei einem Abgeordneten das Haus durchsucht.

The raid, which historians said was the first such search of a congressman's Capitol quarters in the more than two centuries since the first Congress convened, set off loud complaints from both Republicans and Democrats that the executive branch was overstepping its authority.

Jetzt schaltet sich noch Bush ein.

President Bush stepped into the Justice Department's constitutional confrontation with Congress on Thursday and ordered that documents seized in an FBI raid on a congressman's office be sealed for 45 days.

The president directed that no one involved in the investigation have access to the documents taken last weekend from the office of Rep. William Jefferson, D-Louisiana, and that they remain in the custody of the solicitor general.

Man stelle sich das mal vor. Zum ersten Mal in der Geschichte wird bei einem Abgeordneter (zumal der Opposition) eine Hausdurchsuchung durchgeführt und das Staatsoberhaupt schaltet sich. Nein, nicht um die Immunität der Abgeordneten zu schützen (Gibt es sowas in den USA überhaupt?), sondern um die Untersuchung zu behindern und die Vorwürfe im Raum stehen zu lassen. Jetzt sollte man wissen, das Jefferson im Herbst wieder zur Wahl antritt. Ein Schelm wer Böses denkt...

So wie ich das sehe, sind die Republikaner einfach sauer das man Ihren Tom DeLay in die Pfanne gehauen hatte und schlagen jetzt zurück. Und die Firma hat praktischerweise auch noch mit iGate das "Gate" im Namen das seit Watergate jeder politischer Skandal in den USA trägt.
